Information about how to install TERRA 4D software and demo configurations. Please refer to the installation guide for more details: terra_4d_installation_guide.pdf. The main aspects are listed on this page but it is recommended to follow the instructions in the installation guide carefully.
Hardware requirements are also listed in the installation guide. Beside the general computer hardware requirements it is important to know that TERRA 4D uses OpenGL so please make sure an appropriate graphics card is installed.
Download the program installer from the ftp server (for ftp details please check the installation guide). The same installer is used for client and server installations. There are two important directories to define during the installation process:
This section is only required if a demo system will be set up. The demo configuration including GIS data requires about 40GB of disk space. The demo data needs to be downloaded and installed from several packages:
Download all required demo data from the ftp server (for details please check the installation guide). The installation is done through executable installers and compressed files which need to extracted manually.
A VPN connection is required to access the live cameras at the FAST office building in Friedrichshafen. If this shall be part of the demo then OpenVPN should be installed. Please ask your contact person for OpenVPN key file.
For more details check the installation guide.
Note: If you problems to watch the videos in the FAST Meetingroom, please check in the Configurator if the subsystem “Milestone” has the status “Ok”. If not, please try to fix this issue first, e.g. check that OpenVPN was started before Terra 4D and that the network connection is established.
If subsystem “Milestone” is “Ok”, the network may not be able to resolve the name of the Milestone Server correctly. Since the server name (in this case “Milestone PC”) is mandatory after a first contact by the SDK of Milestone used in Terra 4D, you have to do the add the following line to your “hosts” file in the directory “Windows\System32\drivers\etc\”:
192.168.214.156 Milestone-PC
After a restart of Terra 4D the videos should be displayed, otherwise please do not hesitate to contact FAST Systems.
